SCM version 1.3.45 released - 04/09/2008

SCM version 1.3.45 releasedIn the top secret Turboweb Labs we've been working on making the Simple Content Manager better to use.  We've added two main things in this upgrade.  You've already got this upgrade, there's no need to do anything.

Help System

We've made the help system easier to use so that you can make the most of being able to look after your own website - our aim is to make sure you can get the help you need, when you need it.

Some of the help files we've got are: Pages, News, Events, help with images and the confusing but useful Meta Tags.

You can spot the help files by looking out for a link followed by an icon that looks like this - .

We're working on their content and will be adding more help files shortly.  If you have any comments on their content or suggestions on how we can make them better, you can get them to us by clicking the "Support" link in the black menu bar on your admin panel.

Image Verification for Newsletter Subscriptions

Unfortunately some of users have been overwhelmed with what appears to be automated subscriptions to their newsletter.  We don't like that, so we've given you the option of enabling a CAPTCHA (an image challenge that is trivial for people to solve, but not computers) for your newsletter subscriptions.

If you think this might be an issue for you, you can turn the image verification on by:
  1. Log onto your SCM admin panel.
  2. Click Settings on the menu bar.
  3. Click the Mailing List icon (it will only be there if you have the mailing list module turned on).
  4. Change the CAPTCHA confirmation to "ON"
If you want to test it, simply go to your website and put in your name and email address into the "Subscribe to our newsletter" box and click "Subscribe".

Turboweb choose Paymex for low cost eCommerce solution - 01/09/2008

Turboweb choose Paymex for low cost eCommerce solutionAfter evaluating the credit card processing market, we have chosen to use Paymex to provide credit card processing facilities in the Simple Content Manager.  There are two main reasons for this, firstly there is no montly merchant fee that has to be paid to your bank or EFTPOS NZ, and secondly the transaction fees are modest compared to other providers.

We are currently using Paymex for our SCM subscription service and will be offering this as part of the Store module in SCM soon so that you can offer direct credit card billing to your customers via your SCM website.

You can read more about Paymex at www.paymex.co.nz.

Media Player - 10/04/2008

The new Media Player module has been included in the Simple Content Manager Package. You an now easily upload and manage MP3's and Flash Video files. The Media Player will allow users to watch streaming video. This means no waiting around for the whole video to download it will simply begin to play while the file continues to be loaded. See it in action at Ian Davies website where he has a 20 minute documentary loaded up. The image quality and sound is fantastic. www.singingwood.co.nz
